Biography
Possas C is professor in Bio-Manguinhos, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Public health doctor and social scientist, full professor and researcher at FIOCRUZ, Takemi Fellow and Visiting Scientist at Harvard University New Diseases Group for 10 years. Formerly Director of the Research and Technological Development Unit of the Brazilian National AIDS Program in MOH. Executive Secretary of National Biosafety Commission (GMOs) in MST. Research Interests: Emerging Infectious Diseases, Vaccines, Innovation Policy, Intellectual Property. Working now on Bioeconomics.

Eradication of Smallpox and Prospects for Measles Eradication: Lessons from the Brazilian Experience.There is a consensus in the scientific community that the global eradication of measles is more difficult than it was for smallpox. In the case of measles, epidemiological, social and programmatic conditions contribute to the complexity of this challenge in diverse national scenarios.
