P. Shanmugam

Biography

P Shanmugam is a Professor of Department of Ocean Engineering at IIT, Madras. The Ocean Optics and Imaging Laboratory is established by Professor P. Shanmugam through funding provided by several government agencies. Our research is multidisciplinary and fits within the larger scientific context of physical, chemical, biological and geological oceanography. The current research intends to provide a rigorous assessment of the underwater beam propagation and other optical conditions and environments relevant to underwater communication technology and study opto-acoustic techniques for obtaining images of structures in highly dynamic turbid coastal environments.
