Biography
Dr. Olufunmilayo Fawole an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Medical Statistics, Faculty of Public Health, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan. I am also an honorary consultant with the University College Hospital, Ibadan. I am a Fellow of both the Nigerian and West African College of Public Health (FMCPH) and (FWACP). I have a Masters (MSc-MMed) degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa and is a Fellow of South African Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (SAFRI/SA-FAIMER). I also have a Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Research Interest
research projects on prevention malaria, STIs/HIV/AIDS and on Gender based violence. More recently, I am a co investigator in the project titled, “Accessing the impact of an intervention to improve quality of emergency Obstetric care on maternal and perinatal outcomes in Nigeria’ sponsored by WHO, Geneva which was the only study to be implemented in Nigeria after a very competitive bid of over 100 proposals. I have published in both local and international journals and has over 80 publications till date. Most of my publications are in the field of malaria prevention, maternal and newborn health, especially gender based violence, adolescent reproductive health, sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS. I was the Lead Consultant in the of the Global Fund Round 5 Midterm National Evaluation which involved assessing HIV/AIDS programmatic activities of six target group (People Living with HIV, Orphans and vulnerable children, pregnant women, Health care providers, Small and medium Enterprises, General population) in 12 states of the country. I am a consultant, to Federal Ministry of Health and has been a trainer at several maternal and child health programmes.
