Nermina Arifhodzi
Biography
Assoc. Prof. Nermina Arifhodzic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. She graduated from the Medical Faculty, University of Sarajevo, where she also completed her paediatric residency program. She then underwent residency program in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Medical Faculty, University of Zagreb, Croatia, which she completed in 1982. The same year and on the same Faculty she was awarded with her Master’s degree. In 1985, she was awarded her PhD in the field of Allergy from the University of Sarajevo. Until 1994, she worked as Associate Professor in Pediatrics and Head of the Children’s Allergy Department at the University Hospital Sarajevo. Since 1994, Dr Arifhodzic has been working as a Consultant Allergist and Head of Department at the Allergy Center, Kuwait. From the very beginning, she has committed to developing high level of diagnosis and management of all kinds of allergic diseases in Kuwait and is recognized as a leading Allergist, both as a teacher and a practitioner. Her particular interest is focusing on specific allergen immunotherapy of respiratory allergy, as well as on the impact of environment on increasing prevalence of allergic diseases in Kuwait and other Gulf countries. She is a well known speaker at both national and international allergy conferences. Dr Arifhodzic is a member of Kuwait Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology and of WAO. She has published more than 30 papers in reputable journals. She is married with two daughters.
