Biography
He is a Adjunct Professor at Rollins School of Public Health, and currently Senior Program Epidemiologist for Carter Center’s River Blindness, Lymphatic Filariasis, and Schistosomiasis programs. Prior to coming to Atlanta in 2003, I was the Carter Center’s Country Representative (starting in 1998) in Uganda. I have also worked at a senior level with other non-governmental development organizations, including OXFAM (UK), World Vision International (USA), and River Blindness Foundation (USA).
I have played a key role in establishing community-directed national onchocerciasis (river blindness) control/Elimination programs in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Sudan and Uganda. A similar approach was studied in a multi-country study and adapted by WHO’s African Program for Onchocerciasis Control (APOC) in 1996. I was a member of the Technical Consultative Committee (TCC) of APOC from 2002 to 2007. Currently, am a member of the Uganda Onchocerciasis Elimination Expert Advisory Committee (UOEEAC), and a Community Advisory Board (CAB) of Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health.
