Melvyn Freeman is a clinical psychologist and Chief Director for Non-communicable Diseases at the National Department of Health,Johannesburg Area, South Africa.He was National Director of Mental Health and Substance Abuse from 1996-2002 and then worked as a consultant to the WHO and conducted research at the HSRC before taking up his current position in the National Department of Health in 2009. He holds a position of visiting adjunct professor at the University of the Witwatersrand.
He is also worked as an extraordinary Professor of Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch.
