Biography
Lyn started at the Telethon Kids Institute in 1998 to complete her Masters of Public Health (UWA) with a dissertation topic on the burden of hospital admissions for children with a birth defect, supervised by Carol Bower. Lyn works at the Telethon Kids Institute specialising in epidemiology using population-based data linkage. Lyn has recently completed a PhD on a feasibility study of using population-based data linkage for pharmacovigilance in pregnancy. The data linkages in the study include medicines dispensed under Australia's Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, the WA Register of Developmental Anomalies, midwives' notifications, hospital admissions, and deaths data. Although there are various methods in place for reporting adverse drug events in pregnancy, there are very few that allow linkage of prescription drugs to pregnancy outcomes and none in Australia. She has presented her findings at a number of national and international conferences.
