Biography
Dr. Morano's Ph.D. work focused on grapevine biology including root distribution patterns, root growth and metabolic responses of rootstocks crosses and wild grape species. In 1995 she worked with the Sonoma County Grape Growers Association in Sonoma, California creating a computer database for growers on soil and macroclimate compatibility data for rootstock/ scion combinations in the area. Since 1995 she has taught biology, microbiology, plant physiology, and cell biology at universities in California, Michigan and now in Texas. Since coming to the University of Houston-Downtown in 2001, her research interests have focused on the bacteria associated with grapevines. When she is not teaching or doing research with her undergraduates, Lisa spends time with her family and enjoying hobbies which include swimming, photography and Tango dancing.
