K.V. Rao
Principal Scientist (Soil Science), Directorate of Rice Research, India
Biography
He has developed strategies for utilization of crop residues (rice straw, green manures)and microbial cultures assessing contribution, nutrient turnover, balance and soil quality changes in several rice based cropping systems. Developed site specific nutrient management (SSNM) strategies for target yields in shallow lowland and irrigated rice based on on-farm soil and fertilizer efficiency and soil variability Developed integrated soil, crop, water and nutrient management strategy for improving productivity of irrigation water in rice.
Research Interest
Development of geo-referenced management systems for sustaining soil quality and productivity in major rice based cropping systems Climate change and its influence on nutrient turnover and soil quality Applications of nanotechnology in improving nutrient use efficiency
