Biography
Prof. Jonathan D. Jansen, Ph.D. (Stanford), MSc (Cornell), Bed, Head (UNISA) BSc (UWC) serves as a Vice President of The Academy of Science of South Africa. Prof. Jansen serves as the Dean of Education at the University of Pretoria, and remains an active teacher of both first year and doctoral students, while leading three major research programmes. He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of Advtech Ltd. since 2004. He is a prominent speaker and writer on educational matters around the world. Prof. Jansen holds PhD (Stanford), MSc (Cornell), BEd, Head and BSc. Prof Jansen achieved his undergraduate education at the University of the Western Cape (BSc), his teaching credentials at UNISA (HED, BEd) and his postgraduate education in the USA (MS, Cornell; PhD, Stanford). Prof Jansen was a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University (2007-2008).He received an honorary doctor of education degree from the University of Edinburgh. He is a member in, -2007 Board of Global Development for Peace and Leadership, Cape Town -2006- Advisory Board, the Centre for the Study of the Internationalization of Curriculum Studies, University of British Columbia -2005-6 International Commission on the Child, Washington D.C., USA -2005- Ministerial Appointment to the Board of the South African Council of Educator,(SACE).
