Biography
Jinap Selamat obtained a Diploma degree from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia in Science with Education in 1975. She then earned her B.S. degree in Food Science and MSc in Food Microbiology from Louisiana State University in 1977 and 1979, respectively. In 1987, she obtained Ph.D. in Food Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 1994, Professor in 1998. Professor Jinap has a long (12 years) and successful experience in managing academic activities at UPM, started in 1994 when she served as the Head of Department, then as Director of University Research Park in 1998, Deputy Dean in 2001 and later Dean in Faculty of Food Science and Technology since 2002 until now. During those periods she has made an outstanding achievement. Under her leadership UPM pioneered the concept of ‘Research Park’ in 1998 and her management team has developed 5 year strategy in making UPM-URP as a leading research park in agriculture before the research park has been changed to University Agriculture Park in 2001.
