Biography
After graduating in human medicine at the Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, passing the third state exam and doing research in Cambridge (England), Jan Torzewski began to work for the Department of Internal Medicine II (cardiology, angiology (vascular medicine), sports medicine and rehabilitation) at the university of Ulm in 1995 (Prof Dr. V. Hombach). Initially, he worked as a practicing physician, subsequently as a research fellow and after his internist training with focus on cardiology he became senior physician in the Department of Internal Medicine II. Later on, he became senior physician in the interdisciplinary intensive care unit and deputy head of the cardiac catheterization laboratory. After many years of professional experience, further trainings and additional qualifications (among others he acquired expertise in the field of pacemakers and radiation protection), the renowned physician became head of the cardiac catheterization laboratory of the Department of Internal Medicine II in Ulm in 2005. Previously he was head physician of the hospital. Since October 2008, he has been head physician in the Cardiovascular Center Oberallgäu and since the 1st of January 2011, he has been head physician in the newly-established Cardiovascular Center Oberallgäu-Kempten.
