Biography

Education: University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria After qualifying as psychiatrist I spent seven years in private practice in Polokwane, Limpopo Province, South Africa. Thereafter I worked in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, Ireland, establishing a psychiatric rehabilitation unit for people with severe and persistent mental illness. After returning from Ireland I worked as a consultant psychiatrist in Mokopane and Polokwane. Here my passion for community psychiatry was re-ignited and sparked my curiosity about the phenomenon of unipolar mania which eventually resulted in my PhD in the field of bipolar mood disorder. At present I am Clinical Head at Elizabeth Donkin Psychiatric Hospital, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape as well as Associate Professor at Walter Sisulu University, Medical School.

Research Interest

My present special interest is in Psychiatric Impairment Assessment.
