Biography
Dr. Harsukh P. Gajera, Associate Professor (Biotechnology) at the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, Gujarat- 362001 has 19 years experience in the field of research, teaching and extension activities at various departments of agricultural university. Major areas of research are biochemical and molecular aspects of biotic and abiotic stress resistance in crop plants, PCR based DNA markers techniques for diversity analysis in varieties /crops, food processing, nutrition and nutri-genomics, quality aspects of agricultural produces, phytochemistry of medicinal plants etc. He did M. Sc. (Agri.) as well as Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Gujarat / Junagadh Agricultural University. He attended numbers of national and international training programme. He also attended numbers of national and international seminars, symposia, workshop and presented a research papers. He published total 35 research papers in reputed journals, of which Sixteen are in international journals. He made six recommendations which are useful to scientific community. He published five books, and 11 practical or training manuals. He is a member of several scientific committee / society, and editorial member and reviewer for national and international scientific journals. He is working as PI or CO-PI with three external funded research projects. He has delivered 18 lectures as resource person in summer/ winter school, refresher course, seminar, symposia and workshop. In PG academics, out of 16, twelve PG students have been completed their research work under his guidance and obtained degree. Currently, he is a major guide for three pursuing M.Sc. and Ph.D. students of biochemistry, and plant molecular biology and biotechnology. He has actively guided 42 PG students for their research as a minor guide in their advisory committee. He also contributed to guide 97 PG students of basic science of other universities for their dissertation / project work. He worked successfully as technical coordinator, seminar coordinator or training coordinator to organize 12 scientific events viz., national level seminar, symposia, practical training or workshop to prepare students for PG entrance examinations at national level. He lively contributed to get NABL accreditation of GFQA laboratory as per the standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for evaluating food quality parameters of export standards and makes effort to expand scope for pesticide residue and aflatoxin analyses in Food Testing Laboratory of the department.
