Biography
I am currently working at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Instituto de Ciências Biológicas, Departamento de Microbiologia, Laboratório de Vírus, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I have received my PhD degree in 1989 from the Bayerischen Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany. I have developed experience in basic and applied Virology and pioneered the Vaccinia vírus studies in Brazil. In this area my major research focus now is the impact of poxviruses on animal health, Our group is also involved in the arboviruses studies from the identification to the neurological potential in humans, specially Dengue, Zika and Yellow fever viruses.
