Biography
Blossom Damania, PhD, is a UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center member and Boshamer Distinguished Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at UNC Chapel-Hill. Damania Lab focuses on understanding the molecular pathogenesis of Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV).
Research Interest
Interested in the study of viral cancers. Study viral oncogenes and viral transcription factors of KSHV and also use animal models to study viral pathogenesis. The projects in laboratory encompass the areas of signal transduction, apoptosis, angiogenesis, transcription and recombinant herpesvirus production. We employ the latest techniques in molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry to investigate key issues in viral oncogenesis.
