Biography
Andrea Malizia, born the 18/07/1980 at Lucca, is a Senior Researcher of the Industrial Engineering at University of Rome Tor Vergata. He also currently serves as Didactical Coordinator of two Post Graduate Courses in Protection against CBRNe events and as Tutor Assistant in the courses of Physics, Laser systems, Nuclear Fusion Energy and Measurements. During 2008-2009, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Culham Centre of Science in the aim of the activities of fusion nuclear plants security at Joint European Torus. He received a B.S. in 2003 and an M.S. in 2005 (cum laude) in Environmental Engineering both from University of Rome Tor Vergata. He received his Ph.D. in 2010 in Quantum Electronics and Plasma Physics from the University of Rome Tor Vergata (GPA 4/4) and a Post Graduate Title in Protection against CBRNe events (cum laude) from University of Rome Tor Vergata in 2010.
Dr. Andrea Malizia is author of more than 70 papers on International and National Scientific Journal and Conference Proceedings and of 1 National Patent. He received two National Award for its research activities: • The “City and Security Award” (Premio Città e Sicurezza) in 2007 for his Master Degree Thesis on an innovative system for the Protection of the Subway of Rome from CBRNe events; • The “Sapio Award” (Premio Sapio) in 2011 for his PhD thesis on the Validation of a 2D model for Dust re-suspension in case of an accident in the experimental nuclear fusion plants. The Sapio Award is an annual research award for the three best Italian Researcher. He receive the prize the 19 March 2011 at Castello Valentino (Turin) from the Italian President of Republic – On. Giorgio Napolitano.
