Biography
Alessandro Vitale achieved the degree in Medicine at the University of Padua (Full marks with honours: 110/110 cum laude) in 1999 and specialization in General Surgery (Full marks with honours: 70/70 cum laude) in 2005. In 2008, he became PhD in Surgical Sciences and Technological Applications at University of Padova. In 2011 he became Fellow of the European Board of Surgeons (FEBS) in Liver transplantation and Donor operation. As surgeon, he worked as assistant surgeon at the Oncology Surgical Unit of the Veneto Institute of Oncology IOV – IRCCS from 2006 to 2000. From 2010, he became staff surgeon at the Hepatobiliary surgery and Hepatic Transplantation Unit, Padua-University Hospital. From 2006 to date he was Contract Professor of “Surgical Oncology “ at the fifth year of the postgraduate school in General Surgery (1st School of Surgery) of the University of Padova. He won more than 20 awards in International Congresses. He wrote more than 70 publications of full-length papers in international journals with impact factor. In 2013 he achieved the Italian scientific certification for Professor in General Surgery. His main clinical and research interests are hepato-biliary and colon-rectal tumours: patient follow up (after resection, transplantation, non surgical therapies), overall and recurrence free survival analyses, univariate and multivariate prognostic analyses, evaluation of new prognostic scores, clinical research of new blood and tissue bio-molecular markers, comparison between therapeutic strategies.
