Abstract

Amino Acid Profiles of Ridged Swimming Crab, Charybdis natator Herbst

Totally 9 essential amino acids were recorded in the present study. Histidine was abundant and Valine was minimum in all sexes. Total essential amino acids were maximum in berried females (11.396 g) followed by males (7.529 g) and females (7.483 g). Totally 11 non-essential amino acids were recorded in the present study. Glutamic acid was uniformly maximum in all sexes. However serine was minimum in all animals irrespective of the sex. Total non-essential amino acids were maximum in berried females (15.257 g) rather than males (11.034 g) and females (8.120 g). From the study it could confirm that amino acids contributed the maximum in berried females followed by males and females. So on the basis of the study it is suggested that to select berried females to eat than males and females.
