Description

Animal ethics is a branch of ethics that studies human-animal connections, animal morality, and how nonhuman animals should be treated. It's a complicated topic. It becomes more difficult to have a rational discussion regarding the proper and improper treatment of animals. Animal rights, animal welfare, animal law, animal cognition, wildlife conservation, wild animal suffering, the moral status of nonhuman animals, nonhuman personhood, human uniqueness, the history of animal use, and theories of justice are among the topics covered. Several distinct theoretical approaches to investigating this topic have been presented, based on the various theories now argued in moral and political philosophy. However, there are theories that continue to be accepted by society, such as animal rights and utilitarianism.

Importance of conducting animal welfare

Animal welfare science is a relatively new scientific discipline, evolving mostly with in veterinary medicine over the latter half of the twentieth century into an independent specialty in its own right. The first world level organization for scientific study of animal welfare was established in 1966 as the Society for Veterinary Ethology (SVE) affiliated with the British Veterinary Association.

Animal welfare is important. Because there are many animals around the world that suffer from entertainment, food, medicine, fashion, scientific advances, and being used as exotic pets. All animals deserve the five benefits to live a good life:

• Nutrition

• Environment

• Health

• Behaviour

• Psychological state

Animals are used in scientific research to help us understand the body and how they work. This is necessary to develop new drugs. Animals are also used to test the safety of potential medicines, and check the safety of the other chemicals before testing in humans. The use of animals in research is essential to enable researchers to develop new medicines and treatments. Animal models help to ensure the effectiveness and safety of new therapies. Some of the needs for animal welfare are:

• To let the animals live in suitable environment

• Providing suitable diet for animals

• Exhibiting normal behavior patterns

• To be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease

Basic rights of animals

• Proper care

• The right to life

• The right to reproduce

• The right to choose their own lifestyle

• The right to live free in the natural state of their choosing

• The right to live free from human induced harm, hunger, thirst, molestation, fear, distress, pain, injury, or disease

Ethical guidelines of animals on experimentation

The case for animal experiments is that they will produce such great benefits for humanity that it is morally acceptable to harm a few animals. The equivalent case against is that the level of suffering and the number of animals involved are both so great that the benefits to humanity are insufficient to justify the morality of the practice. Only if the benefit of the intended experiment overcomes the pain of the animals is it considered appropriate to use animals in experiments. Animal studies that are ethically reviewed will almost certainly benefit the animals and increase the quality of animal-based research. Nonhuman animals are used as test subjects in several medical research institutions. Animals may be subjected to experiments or transformed into situations that aid in the understanding of human disease or the testing of prospective human therapies. The ethical considerations surrounding the use of animals in research are numerous. In some circumstances, it is thought that the use of laboratory animals may be important to enhance the lives of people, animals, or the environment. At the same time, most people believe that animals have moral significance and that our treatment of them should be guided by ethical principles.

Animal housing and management: Facilities for animals should be designed accurately, equipped and maintained to access well standard of animal care

Veterinary care: It should be established to operate veterinary care includes appropriate facilities, services to execute guiding principles, Procedures to control diseases and injuries.
