Editor Note - (2020) Volume 14, Issue 3

Editor Note Journal of FisheriesSciences.com

Dear Readers

I am pleased to mention that during the year 2020, all issues of Journal of FisheriesSciences.com, volume 14 were published online well within the time and the print issues were also brought out and dispatched within 30 days of publishing the issue online. The objective of IPFS is to publish up-to-date, high-quality and original research papers alongside relevant and insightful reviews.

As such, the journal aspires to be vibrant, engaging and accessible, and at the same time integrative and challenging. Each issue of the journal contains different types of papers, mostly the first, Regional Spotlights; provide a short contemporary and provocative â??opinion pieceâ? on an issue in the field of Fisheries. The second, Critical Reviews, provides a critical and concise yet comprehensive and contemporary review of a particular theme specific to the Fisheries. The third type of paper, Research Papers, was more traditional in form and demonstrated a sound theoretical and/or methodological underpinning and a clear contribution to knowledge in the field.

During the calendar year 2020, IPFS received around 400 papers, out of which 300 articles (75%) were rejected in the preliminary screening due to plagiarism or being out of the format. During the same year around 100 articles were subjected to the peer-review process and 40 of those were accepted in the Volume 14.

40 articles were published during the year 2020, of which, 70% articles were by foreign authors. A total of 80 research scientists from USA and abroad reviewed the 40 articles published in volume 10. Average publication lag time of an article was further reduced to 3-4 months.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of Dr. Mohan J. Modayil during the final editing of articles published and the support rendered by the editorial assistant, in bringing out issues of IPFS in time. I would also like to express my gratitude to all the authors, reviewers, the publisher, the advisory and the editorial board of IPFS, the office bearers and staff for their support in bringing out yet another volume of IPFS and look forward to their unrelenting support to bring out the Volume 14 of IPFS in scheduled time.
