Biography

Dr. Sam Mukaratirwa is a Professor of Parasitology and Dean of the School of Life Sciences at the University of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. He completed his Phd on Population genetics of the vector snails of trematodes at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Currently, he is a WHO/FAO expert on neglected parasitic zoonoses.

Research Interest

Parasitic with special emphasis on Taenia solium cysticercosis/taeniosis and trichinellosis, molecular epidemiology of domestic canids and felids hookworms in southern Africa, parasitic epidemiology of livestock flukes in Africa and application of GIS and remote sensing in the epidemiology of schistosomiasis, fasciolosis and amphistomosis in southern Africa
