Dr. Karl-Heinz Herzig has been appointed as the University of Oulu 17.5.2006 physiology professor office from 1.9.2006.
Karl-Heinz Herzig has a PhD in the Georg-August-University Göttingen, 1989. 1987-90 he worked as a visiting researcher at Michigan and Stanford universities in the United States. He has worked as a researcher in internal medicine and gastroenterology, and oncology at the University of Kiel, 1990-2001, and then research director of the University of Kuopio AIVirtanen Institute.
He has been appointed associate professor at the University of Kiel in 1998 and associate professor at the University of Kuopio, 2001. In 2004 he was appointed acting Kiel, Christian-Albrechts-University professor of internal medicine.
Herzig research work has focused on gastrointestinal physiology and pathophysiology, metabolism, and regulation of food and nutritional effects.
