Harnessing 21st century digital transformation for Africa

Digitization is a term used in the process of changing from analog to digital form. In other words, Digitalization is the use of digital technologies to change a business model and provide new form of teaching, learning and value-producing opportunities for Africa’s Socio Economic Development. It is the process of moving to a digital business. Digital Transformation is a customer-centric business strategy. It employs new technologies and business processes to better deliver products, services and experiences to customers and business partners. This paper therefore provides insight into how Ghana Technology University College is positioning itself by providing cutting edged digital transformation academic programmes to for millennial generation. The paper explores how businesses can accelerate their Digital Transformation by leveraging on 3rd Platform technologies. At the core of 3rd platform technologies for Digital Transformation are the Four Pillars, namely: Big Data & Analytics, Cloud, Mobile and Social. These four technologies are important, foundational elements in a digital enterprise that can disrupt the market and successfully adapt to a new, Digital Transformation-focused economy. The paper is a desk reviewed that provides challenges and recommendations for leapfrogging Africa’s digitization development agenda.
